Tip #2: Running Late... How to Get Out the Door on Time!

Getting up and out the door on time every morning can be challenging every now and then, especially when you’re not feeling well or stayed up later than your usual 10:00 p.m. bedtime because you thought you could handle some late night television, (I’m guilty of this??‍♀️).  Not to worry, there are definitely a few things that can help you overcome running late in the morning because you overslept, feel sick, are dealing with an uncooperative child in the morning, or all of the above.

GOALS:

✅ Teach a Lesson to Child(ren) on Responsibility

✅ Child(ren) Takes Pride in Picking Out their Clothes

✅ Outfits are Picked Out for the Week

✅ Gain an extra 10 Minutes of Sleep

✅ Fun Activity to do Together While Getting Organized

✅ Less Laundry to Pack Away

Most parents may have already heard this first tip before but just don’t keep up with it – but it works!  Put together

the outfit you want to wear the following day and using a hanger, hang it up on the door handle/knob or lay it out (along with your accessories, for example; watch, earrings, etc.) on a table/desk.  I know, some of you may think “I don’t have time to do this the night before… I’m too tired… I just don’t want to, I’ll figure it out in the morning.”

STOP PROCRASTINATING AND MAKING EXCUSES!

Make getting organized a family affair!  Keep it fun while teaching your child(ren) how to set their self up for success by setting out their outfits for the entire week, perhaps on a Sunday afternoon or right before you pack away the laundry.  It’s never to early to teach your child(ren) responsibility.  Again, have fun!  Play some music and put on a fashion show while you’re at it.  More lasting fun memories for your family; and bonus, additional time to sleep in!!!  All SuperParents know that an added 10 minutes to your sleep or simply closing your eyes, can make a huge difference.  Your child(ren) will also appreciate waking up a couple minutes later and will even look forward to getting ready, because they either helped or picked out their outfits their self.

A few other tips to help get you and your family out the door faster include:

  • Putting toothpaste on your child’s toothbrush before waking them up.

    • Trust me!  This lowers the time they spend in the bathroom, and reduces the amount of mess they make from trying to do it their self and leaving the excess toothpaste on the counter or in the sink.

  • Setting the breakfast table the night before.

    • Just the basics will do!  A placemat, napkin and utensils are all you need to save you some extra time in the morning.  Plus, you can add this small task as a chore for even your 4-year-old to do, so he/she can feel like a big kid helping out, while also teaching them discipline and responsibility.

Challenge: Try these tips for at least 3 days, and please come back to leave a comment to let myself and other SuperMOMs and SuperDADs know how it went.  If you have any tips that you feel could help, please feel welcome to share them also!
